If you want to visit the historic city of Santiago de Cuba but want to stay somewhere relaxing & peaceful within easy reach of Cuba’s second city, Hotel Rancho Club is good, inexpensive choice.

Rancho Club hotel looks out on the city & mountains & provides a tranquil retreat from the bustling city, 10 minutes away by car. It is near enough to explore famous sites like Castillo de San Pedro de la Roca, yet far enough away to peacefully unwind in the sun on your return.

Islazul Rancho Club is a 2 star hotel which is small & basic, with a rustic charm & blend of traditional & modern Cuban décor. The hotel has an open air buffet restaurant with beautiful views, although the service & food can best be described as hit & miss. However, the snack bar food is much better.

Rancho Club has limited facilities, though there is a pretty pool & terrace with a stunning backdrop. The hotel also has a shop (convenient, given the location), basic bar & nightclub.

Rancho Club hotel is a cheap, basic but charming choice which should suit the needs of tourists wanting a relaxing break with easy access to Santiago de Cuba.

Great value for money. Its small -- 30 or so rooms -- but I never missed a hot shower, even if I had to wait a few minutes for the hot water to arrive -- normal stuff. Friendly staff, and decent meals, although predictable. This place would make a great budget stop-over for cyclo-tourists....the final approach to the hotel from Santiago City is a long and gentle grade -- i did it daily on my heavy steel bicycle for two straight weeks without any trouble. Not a flat either. Because it is a small place, it is always possible that if you arrive cold without a reservation you might find Rancho Club full.

Best value for money for the experienced Cuba traveler.

Rehberi Santiago de Cuba City
Cuba's second city is hot, hilly and exhausting but at the same time seductively languid. Built on a sequence of hills overlooking a large bay with the Sierra Maestra in the background, it is certainly one of Cuba's most picturesque cities. Its colourful streets sweep up and down steep hills, making walking through the city, although pleasant, a little tiring if done in long stretches.

Santiago City has a singular vibrancy, its predominantly mulatto people, a mix of Spanish, French from Haiti and huge numbers of Africans, are persistently friendly. And their reason for being is music and dance.

Santiago de Cuba has plenty to offer for sightseers, blessed as it is with a host of interesting museums, buildings and places.. including the Moncada Barracks, Emilio Bacardi Museum, The Cathedral, Morro Castle, La Maison and Calle Heredia
